Just a couple of notices thid week:
Wimbledon 2019 Ticket Allocation Opt-in
As a club we are allocated tickets to the Wimbledon Championships based on the number of British Tennis Members affiliated to our club and who opt in to the Wimbledon ballot through the LTA website (www.lta.org.uk/wimbledonballots). By opting in you do not have to go to the Championships if you are lucky enough to win tickets in the ballot we hold at the club but you are helping to maximise the number of tickets the club is allocated. Please take some time to opt in this year.
Carols & Barells
We arrived at 10.00am only to find all courts covered with frost and the sun breaking through on courts 4 and 5 which after a little sweeping were fine to play the ladies home fixture. A group of members used the brooms and leaf blowers to sweep and ‘melt’ the frost on courts so it was decided to postpone the start to 11.00am. We finally started our American tournament around 11.20 but had 5 courts in play and a sit out pair on court 8. We played 5 games and then retired to the clubhouse for our mulled wine and mince pies, with the usual sing song of carols and the ever popular 12 days of Christmas (twice).
Very many thanks to all those who helped sweep and blow the courts, to Leanne and Nigel for preparing the mulled wine and manning the bar and to Callum Litchfield who took time out of his busy schedule to come and play for us. Thank you all for supporting the club, playing tennis and socialising in true Reedham style.
I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy healthy new year and look forward to lots of tennis in 2019.
